pariaka letters

Dear Bonnie

I miss you and im so excited to have you back. How's all the assignments going? The chiefs have been put in prison again. It's very hard here we have to build fences that government troops pulled down. It has been 10 months of fighting. And lots of the men are getting arrested. I miss you but you shouldn't come home just yet there's so much fighting and Parihaka isn't a very happy place right now no one is there. And where we are is not peaceful or fun. I don't know how long this will take but I will keep you updated and as soon as it's over you will be on the first boat back home. I miss you and hope to see you soon. But I have to go now.

Yours sincerely your oldest and best friend,
Brenda.

Active Akaroa

On labour weekend 2018 me my family and most of my neighbourhood went to Akaroa for the long weekend. My neighbour works at a school and they go on school camps every year. She lets us go to their school camp for a weekend just for fun. We do it every year. The camp is called Takamatua. Its right beside the lake and mountains.

we stay in a little cabin with 8 beds. 1 family per cabin. At night the kids would play spot light and the parents will sit around and talk. In the day we would go to the lake and swim jumping off the wharf is so much fun but the water is very cold. They put out this huge water slide it goes down the big hill on the campsite

The camp is placed beside a little house with a lady living in it.  She has lots of chicken and their might be about 25 chickens in the chicken house. She has so many chickens so we call her the crazy chicken lady. Me Sophie and our neighbour Sam all go spy on her we've gotten told off before maybe once or twice. There's a big swing beside her house that we swing on to get a better view.

We walk down this little trail and end up in the lake on the walk their you have to walk through a lot of water, rocks and grass but it’s so beautiful and worth getting wet. As soon as we got to the jetty almost all the kids went running into the water jumping off the jetty. It was such a rush when you jump in the lake because you go so fast and it's hard to swallow the moment.

Sophie's family bring paddle boards to Takamatua every year. So most of the kids will get a go on them. It's brilliant. The older kids row the paddle boards and the little kids just get to relax and tag along. But by Tag along i mean tie you foot to the paddle board and lay in a tyer. I'm a little kid so i just get to relax.

The water slide is so much fun. It feels like you gliding down a big hill. All the kids go down it and even some of the brave adults. We put heaps of dishwash liquid on it to make it slippery. But unfortunately I don't have such great memories of the water slide. I knocked my front adult tooth out.

Overall the Takamatua / Akaroa trip is one of my favourite tips of the year. I love being in a different place and hanging out with my friends. I love being in the fresh air and gliding down a soapy water slide and you can't forget about feeling the rush of jumping off the jetty. I can't wait to go again soon.

My amazing world trip

Hi my name is Caoimhe and i went on a big trip around the world and i would like to share it with you. please enjoy.

On June the 29th 2019 I went on a big trip with my family.
First we went to Bali second we went to Dubai thirdly we
went to Ireland and finally we went to singapore.

When we were in Bali we stayed at a really nice resort
called the weston hotel and resort Nusa Dua Bali. it was so
beautiful and the breakfast was amazing. But there were
lots of stray dogs and cats it was so sad.  We went for a
walk on the streets and there were lots of little stalls full
of t shirts necklaces and bracelets me and my sister got
heaps of bracelets each.

Then we went to Dubai it was so hot i forgot the name of
the resort we stayed in but it did have 43 floors and our
room was on the 33 floor. We went to a mall their and it
was huge there were 4 floors. In the mall they had an apple
store and the were about 500 i phones it was so cool. The
mall had heaps of restaurants and cafes. The mall was so
big it had an ice skating rink inside of it.

After Dubai we went to Ireland and saw my family.
Ireland is so green the grass is such a pretty color it
looks so luscious. Their lollies are so good they taste so
different to the ones we have here. we went to a really
cool pool it had 5 water slides. It was by far way cooler
than Qe2. me and my whole family stayed it my grandmas
with her. Her house is quite small but we made it work. I
had to sleep in a really uncomfortable bed it was so tiny.

Then we went to Singapore, again it was very hot but not
as hot as Dubai. When we were in the car to the resort
we saw a huge ferris wheel it was awesome. The few
from our resort was unbelievable. You can't forget
about the sunset it was incredible me and my sister got
some good pictures. We also went to universal studios
it was so much fun they had so many amazing roller
coasters but some of the rides were not so good.
Me and my sister got a t shirt each to remember
the fun times. My dad got a bottle opener. My mum didn't
get anything.

Amazing ice cream adventures

One day there was an ice cream that a little girl named
Rosalina wanted but it didn't have chocolate sauce on it
like she wanted and Rosalina just loved chocolate sauce.
The ice cream walked all around New Zealand and talked to
everyone possible to find the chocolate sauce. On the way
he bought some chalk from a very friendly hawk. Who was
eating steak with a fork, up in a bean stalk. The ice cream
climbed up the beanstalk. And there was chocolate sauce up
the beanstalk. So he brought the chocolate sauce back to
Rosalina who needed to talk.

Trenches

Dear Sister Bonnie

Its day 69 im tired and worn out and can't wait to go home. The food is gross it makes me gag it's only bully beef stew, hard biscuits and dry beef that smells like cat pee. There are so many bugs and everyone has lice. The rats are disgusting they are the size of cats. My feet are so uncomfortable all I feel are my toes squelching through smelly mud that makes you gag. The bed are to uncomfortable and you can barely sleep because their are bed bugs biting on you every 2 seconds. Remember my best friend gorge he got shot in the leg and i dont know if he’s  gonna make it. The master forgot to get the first aid kit so no one can get cured. May as well just say my last goodbye now. At the start I was so excited to come to war but now im depressed, I really want to come home. But ive got my head held high and i'm gonna carry on the journey.  Yours sincerely your brother Charles.

Thursday sports fun!

 Thursday sport

In term 4 instead of doing winter sport Netball, football, rugby and hockey we are doing Korfball, Lawn bowls and Cricket. Its really fun i did korfball last Thursday with Lara. There was a man teaching it he was really good at teaching and it seemed like he was really good at playing it. He is from the Netherlands. When we did it it was really hot. He did it bit by bit he showed us some ground rules and then along the way he showed new rules and it got kind of hard. I'm really exited for this week i hope we do cricket next. Its so much fun to learn new things but i didn't give it my all because i was afraid on getting smashed in the mouth again but i gave it a fair shot.
Questions:
have you ever played Korfball?
If you have do you think your good at it?

Fabulous Ferrymead

Ferrymead

On Tuesday the 29th of October 2019 me and my hub went on a trip to ferrymead. It was so much fun. we had to wear weird uncomfortable costumes from the 18 or 1900s. We were set into groups. All the groups each had a parent or teach in there group. I was with Miss tulusi. I had my best friend Ariella in my group. we had to walk all around ferry mead and take pictures of every were we went. when we got there we had a New Zealand morning tea we ate animal cookies, pineapple lumps, cheerios, snax crackers with kiwi dip also pineapples and cheese attached to orange. They had an old fashioned school. we had to go in for  a session there was an old man who was really strict im happy my teachers aren't like that. we also got to watch an old fashioned movie. It was about a girl who loves to cook. her mum always cooks dinner but her mum had to go somewhere. so her dad had to cook dinner but it was a disaster. so when the girl got home she called her friend and they made dinner. we also went to an old jail and there was a jail sell with fake people inside it was a little creepy. Oh and I cant forget about the tram ride at the end, it was so much fun we rode around ferry mead and saw some cool things.

Have you ever been to ferry mead?
